BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is an ancient, dense montane rainforest located in southwestern Uganda on the edge of the Albertine Rift. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bwindi is renowned globally for its exceptional biodiversity and for being one of the primary refuges for endangered mountain gorillas.

Mountain Gorillas: Bwindi is home to roughly half of the world’s total population of wild mountain gorillas (Gorilla beringei beringei), with multiple habituated family groups open for eco-tourism and tracking.

Entities to cover
Wildlife and activities: the Nyakagezi gorilla family, the only habituated group in the park, with 8 trekking permits a day. Golden monkey trekking, three volcano hikes and the Batwa Trail complete the offer.
Volcanoes: Sabinyo at 3,645m, Gahinga at 3,474m and Muhabura at 4,127m. Setting: Uganda's smallest national park, at 33.7 square kilometres, bordering Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park and Congo's Virunga National Park.
Season: the commonly cited dry months are June to September and December to February.
Logistics: about 10 kilometres south of Kisoro town.
