AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK , RWANDA

Akagera National Park lies in eastern Rwanda, hugging the border with Tanzania. It's characterized by woodland, swamps, low mountains and savannah. The varied terrain shelters wildlife including zebras, giraffes, elephants, lions and hundreds of bird species, such as the rare shoebill stork. In the southern part of the park, vast Lake Ihema is home to hippos and crocodiles.

Entrance Fees

International Visitors: $100 per adult per day/night; $50 for children (6–12).

African Visitors (non-EAC): $50 per adult per day/night; $25 for children.

EAC Residents: $50 per adult per day/night; $30 for children.

Rwandan & EAC Citizens: 15,000 RWF per adult per day/night; children roughly half or free (under 6 are free across categories).
Stay Discounts: Entry tickets drop by 50% on the second and third nights if staying inside the park. From night four to one week, entry is free.

The Rwanda gorilla permit is sold at $1,500 per person and it guarantees a traveler one hour in the presence of gorillas.

The gorilla permit allows you to visit the endangered mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park.

Price of a Rwanda Gorilla Permit

– $1500 – Non Residents, East African Residents, East African Citizens, Rwandan Residents, Rwandan Citizens

– 30% Discount (US$ 1,050) on gorilla permits if visiting other Rwanda national parks (Akagera national park, Nyungwe national park) for 3 days and more during the low season of November – May

– 15% discount (US$ 1,275) on conference guests who stay pre & post MICE events to see gorillas

– $15,000 for Private gorilla trekking of an entire group with an exclusive personalized tour guide service
